The Amadeus Institute participated in the Union for the Mediterranean Forum (UfM) as an official partner alongside many organizations from both shores of the Mediterranean. The For’UM was organized jointly by the French-Egyptian co-presidency of the UfM, and took place on May 27, 2010 in Marseille, France.

This meeting presented the progress made by the UfM since its launching in 2008 to financial specialists and private sector actors. It made an appeal in favor of UFM projects currently being developed.

Sessions dealt with the economic potential of the Mediterranean area and the funding mechanisms needed to achieve sectoral projects in the region (Mediterranean solar plan, water, transport, civil protection, education etc. ...).

Participants were informed about the outcome of key meetings held in the framework of the UfM, including the informal international meeting in Alexandria on financing infrastructure projects, the first Ministerial Conference of the UfM on Sustainable development projects and sectoral ministerial meetings.
Participants also had the opportunity to exchange views on institutional arrangements, on the establishment of the UfM’s bureau inaugurated on March 4 in Barcelona, Spain, and on the perception of the UfM’s future.

Thanks to the recommendations of the 2009 MEDays Forum, the Amadeus Institute, from its Southern perspective, has contributed to resolving socio-economic and political issues facing the Mediterranean region.
